Screening info

Still from Brouillard - Passage #14

By invitation of Ekumen and Divagation, Blue Screen is pleased to present Brouillard - Passage #14, a film by Canadian artist Alexandre Larose, accompanied by a live score from Bear Bones, Lay Low. Brouillard - Passage #14 is part of an ongoing series made by Larose, whereby repeated walks on a singular path are superimposed onto a 1000-foot strip of 35 mm colour reversal film. Filming with the aperture only slightly open, only the brightest spots register on the photochemical film, resulting in an image that is formed across repetition and the passage of time.

“On the screen we see a landscape of pulsating light that is both concrete and abstract at the same time, drawing attention to the material and chemical processes of the medium as well as the visceral qualities these can produce. A phantom ride where the phantom seems to be both the camera that registers as well as the world it records.” — Alejandro Bachmann, reset the apparatus.
